does the FEC on the hacked Drebel (or any canon EOS w/ FEC) also control the slave flash(es) in a multiple wireless flash setup? i have a 550ex and 420ex.

Because if it does, i was thinking i could increase it on the camera to increase output from both units and then just dial down the 550 for fill.

For that to work, the slaves would have to be E-TTL compatible (Which far as I understand, both the 550EX and 420EX is) accross the wireless setup from the 550 rather than a just a "Flash" to trigger it, I guess the best way to know is to test it, is to try to make the 550 very weak, and the 420 very strong, then try the reverse to make sure its doing what you are expecting.

Not sure how the hacked FEC would affect flashes in a wireless environment (I think it should work) but you can just as well dial in FEC on the 550EX. This will affect both the master and the slave. If you want the master and slave to have different outputs, you can control that by setting the 420EX in Group B. The 550EX as the master will always be in Group A. You can then dial in an A:B ratio.

BTW, if you set the FEC on both the flash and the camera, the FEC set on the flash overrides that of the camera.

Thanks Leo.

I have this situation coming up http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=61228

I'll be taking group pictures from 3 to 20 people. Would you suggest flash ratios or should I just keep it 1:1?
