Hi guys,

Newbie question:

I just ordered this remote shutter release for my 20D
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220315507919

I also got myself the elinchrom D-Lite 2 set

I have 2 questions:

1- I am looking at getting the elinchrom skyport flash trigger set. How many of them do I need for the 2 softboxes I have, is one transmitter and one receiver enough? or do I need to receivers?

2- Can you use the remote shutter release and the skyport simultaneous/together or you can have only one on the camera at a time?

I know stupid questions, but I am just begiining to learn about this stuff. Thanks a lot

1. One receiver is good enough for indoors, just let optical slave take care of the second strobe.

2. Yes you can.

But then you can just save the money on the skyports and put them both in optical slave and let your build in flash do the triggering.

The built in flash is ETTL only. The pre-flash will trip the strobes.

You could use the 580EX on camera in manual mode to trip the strobes.

Don't know about the 20D but can't you turn the pre flash off? And even put flash on manual? Agreed though that radio transmitter would be a wise investment, but if you want to save money....

Unfortunately the built in flash does not go to manual mode. You can adjust FEC but it remains in ETTL and fires a pre-flash.
