I like to carry my camera with me everywhere because obviously as most of you know the perfect shot is when you least expect it. So when its a million degrees out and you don't want to leave your equipment in a locked car, what do you do with it? I would have to carry mine into work with me but don't want to worry about it getting walked off with while I'm working. Will the heat bother a camera?
Being a computer guy I know heat is not good for electronics, any suggestions?

Get a little Canon Ixus compact camera and take that everywhere. My gear bag's just too heavy to take everywhere with me.

I wouldn't leave my camera in the car in the heat or freezing temps. And I would worry more about someone breaking into the car - if only on a 'fishing' expedition. Would you leave your computer in the heat and cold? Shoot my camera cost far more than my PC and I sure wouldn't leave it in the car.
Take a smaller camera and keep it in your pocket.

I have never had problems in the famous Southern Illinois heat and humidity as long as I have my equipment stored in a good bag [I use Lowepro] and covered so it is not in any direct sunlight.

I live in Minnesota and keep photo gear in my vehicle most of the year. I used to worry more about my film being affected by the heat than anything else. All I worry about know is condensation from extreme temperature changes.
Buy quality gear - use it up and throw it away.

I'm not sure about the more delicate digital cams but my film Minolta has been through hell and back and still works perfectly.
But I wouldn't leave an expensive digital SLR laying around in my car. Someone stealing it doesn't worry me that much (I always hide stuff under the seat or throw other stuff ontop so no one can see if I leave something important in there). Although, it depends where I'm parked heh....The hot Florida sun destroying it might worry me more.

Surprisingly enough if you have a good camera bag and you take it from a cool (or air conditioned) house, it almost works like a cooler. I have had my stuff in my bag on hot days and the inside of the bag remained quite cool.
But as said, I think I would be more worried about thieves than Mother Nature if I left things in my car....I have never left my bag in the car when I was going to be far away from it for extended periods of time. Just too risky for me...

Yeh1 You come back to the car and find a broken window and the Camera Bag gone. Just the camera bag.

Personally, i've grown use to wearing my camera around my neck, i try to bring it wherever i go...i try.
I never leave my stuff in my car. Too many horror stories of theft for me to do that.

Here in Georgia, USA, cameras in locked cars would melt...literally. I've melted a heat-proof, car-safe polycarbonate CD player once. The body didn't melt, but some of the internals warped and didn't work right anymore.

a small sized cooler works well for this. It insulates and protects form the high melting temps. I have a soft cooler and put my gear in there. Although Living in Northern California is more mild than the South, we do get quite hot in the summer.
