I picked up a 4GB SDHC on a good deal. In both my wife's A620 and my SD600 I get a memory card error warning but it works fine in my laptop. Ideas?

Yep. Neither of those two cameras support SDHC. My wife has the SD600. I passed my A620 on to my sister when her A95 had the sensor problem and got an A630 which does support SDHC. 2 GB's your limit.

Good thing we carry spares.

Yeah, well when all you can shoot is JPEG, 2 GB's a lot, too. Of course, that 3-position switch on the SD600's caught my wife more than once.

Isn't the a95 one of the cameras that will get the sensor replaced/fixed or a replacement camera sent due to the sensor issue that effected a wide range of cameras? She might be able to get another camera for her a95 if she contacts Canon about it.

She did get that fixed - but she needed a camera for an impending trip so, since I'd just picked up the A630 it was not a problem.

What I'm saying is she might be able to get a good working camera "free" from Canon for her a95 is she inquires about it!

I'm well aware of the recall (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=238911). They had the parts to replace an A95 so that's what they did. The people who've gotten upgrades have been those whose cameras weren't repairable. If your camera can be repaired, the best you'll get is an offer to trade up, for some additional dollars, to the newer model. IIRC the successor they offered was an A420 for $100.

I've also heard if you complain enough to Canon about getting a "lesser" camera in return when an older camera is not repairable, they will give you an equivalent new model camera. I would not accept having to pay money to Canon just so they can honor their warranty and service responsibilities.

If they fix the camera for free, they've met their obligations for a camera that is well out of warranty. They're under no obligation to upgrade you for free when you send a broken camera back; otherwise we'd all be using 1Ds IIIs, if they were still in business.

My reading was a user who sent an a75 or a95 in for repair and was initially given an a530 which is a lightweight and much lesser quality than what needed to be repaired under warranty/recall. The user complained to Canon that the offered replacement wasn't adequate and an a590IS was issued instead.

Since, as I said, in this case Canon repaired the camera that wasn't an issue. You're way off topic on this thread - please consider that I am moderately familiar with Canon cameras and this particular recall program and drop the subject.

...that 3-position switch on the SD600's caught my wife more than once.

And me too. I guess that is the price for "mini".
