I was thinking.. the only thing missing from the 'dead dog' photo was the "X" over her eye. LOL ..

Kat - actually, she's the least haired up of my crew.. but the temps are going to drop to 27 tonight (w/snow), so everyone (but one) will get blanketed. This mare, born & raised in Colorado, hairs up the least - go figure, huh?

I was in the arena trying to get some pix of my other mare (Playmate) - who had an appt to be put down within a few hours .. and Missy (Playmate's side kick), started rolling - then playing (I'll post a few pix below) ... as it turned out, we decided to bute Playmate & use DMSO on her to see how much longer we can keep her comfortable. ... so we called and cancelled the appointment. I didn't get any good shots of Playmate (she kept following me around) .. but this is a snapshot of Missy (on the left) and Playmate (on the right).

It seems like the 'girls' rarely get in many of my photos. .. but I'll attempt to take some more of Playmate. It's not a matter of *if* but *when* she'll take that last visit to the vet.

They are certainly looking frisky! I love the perspective on that last one and the one of Missy rearing is priceless. What's wrong with Playmate? Arthritic/old age? She looks like she's in good condition and all that...... That's an awful decision to have to make - I feel for you :-(

They're both 20. A few years back, Playmate slipped & fell in pasture and herniated a disc. She's been having more trouble getting up from lying down. .. and it takes more time to get her back legs working again. Yes, she's been *my girl* for 16 years.. it will be really tough. (that's an understatement) .. anyway, I'll try to get some better shots of her before then.
