Thought I'd see the differences between the two programs...
Photomatrix wins me over in these pictures. Could there have been something more I could've done in Photoshop to yield identical results?

I'm leaning more towards the PM one on these shots.

I also prefer photoshop. How many exposure did you use?

Just three exposures.
The PS version is fine except the trees in the background arent very sharp and look kind of weird.

In my own tests, Photoshop does a better job of what a real HDR is supposed to be, where the shadows are lightened and the highlights are toned down, so that all the pixels, no matter what color, ideally have the same luminosity. Photomatix is able to adjust the color, luminosity and contrast of the pixels more than Photoshop is, which is why it can make the more extreme renders.

So if I have photos I want to look very real, I use CS3, if I want the artsy look with more impact, I use PM. :)

Couldn't have agreed more with you, Mitch

The PM is more dramatic. However, it seems to be more about the table than the sky and the photoshop version seems more about the sky and the table secondary. Just my .02 cents.
