I was checking the canals condition, for this spring and much to my surprise found a man and woman team of Ice Climbers. I had time to switch off my EFS 17-85 for something longer . . . and put up the tripod as well. It was fun to watch them 'spike' the ice with their hammers and the cleat/spikes they wear over their shoes. It is good they had a safety line on each other . . . they used it a time or two. Looks like fun if one was a tad younger.

This is the young lady on the south/shade side of the Bear River Canyon . . . climbing the ice falls.

Nice photo. I will not try that at my age but my friend's son does a lot of that out west, in the Rockies. Thanks for showing.

Wowzer!!! nice shot but BRRRRRRR...looks too cold for my California blood. You find the best subjects for your pictures. I just realized tonight, you have the same initials as my hubby. He too is RJ (Robert Joaquin).

Wow!! NO thanks. Reminds me of that movie, the Eiger Sanction, where Eastwood plays an ex-CIA operative and has to climb the Eiger Mountain. Whew. I will pass. Great capture though. Very good job of keeping the detail in the ice but not throwing the climber into darkness.

There must be an easier way up. :)

An easier way up . . . yes a small dirt road, well snow packed now. One just never knows what you will see in a days work/travels. I am glad that I get to be out of doors a great deal during the week. It is harder that I wish it was to shoot into the shadow they were in, and on white ice. I think any credit should go to the 20D however for making a shot that is decent.

My kind thanks to all.
