How do you retain full EXIF info during the RAW conversion process?
Here is my current workflow:
1. Open RAW file with DPP
2. Adjustments
3. Save file as 8-bit TIFF w/ EXIF
4. Open with PS 6.0
5. Adjustments
6. Save as maximum quality jpeg.
What am I doing wrong here? I also have PS Elements 2.0. Will it make a difference?

hrm, I remeber in the past when I opened the raw straight from Photoshop CS, that it wasnt saving the Exif all the time, I just needed to update the Camera raw Plugin, but since yer using DPP , then in photoshop, when saving the tiff from DPP from windows explorer right click, properties, check the last tab and hit advanced, if you see the proper exif data, the problem may lie in Photoshop 6, when loading into PS6 right click the title bar of the pic and check properties there to make sure the exif is still retained, if it is then its somewhere in the process of saving it, if you do "Save for Web" ( if thats in PS 6 ) that wont retain the exif data, but Save As will. Double check from what # to # you lose your exif information.

When I convert a RAW file to TIFF w/ EXIF, more than half of the EXIF info is lost. Then when I convert TIFF to JPEG, all the EXIF info is lost.
What's the deal here?

I think the only way to get the full EXIF is to use DPP. I have used C1 and Bibble, and both either messes up the EXIF data or lose alot of it.

I know this doesn't apply to you, but it's a general tip. If you use PS CS, get the latest RAW plugin, then use save as if you want to retain exif info. If you use "save for web" it strips all exif info out, which is a useful feature.

I am using DPP...when I convert RAW to TIFF, but when I do that the EXIF info is no longer complete for some reason.

Not sure, I have never used DPP But rather use C1 and Photoshop CS , both of which are fully Exif Compliant. Its maybe perhaps Photoshop6 isnt exif compliant ( Though I cant see that happening ), and that DPP only carries over "relavent" information.

I use Rawshooter to convert my files and CS2 to finish them. Converting from RAW is not the problem. It is when the file is "Saved for Web" and converted to jpg that looses the EXIF data. So far I have only been able to save the EXIF if I use "Save as" in CS2.
It is the last process that drops the EXIF.

Breezebrowser does a good job of converting RAW to JPG and keeping EXIF data. The problem some of you are having is with Photoshop which does not do well especially in the earlier versions.

I use PSE 3 and it save most of the EXIF data, but not 100% of the info that you'd get if you opened the RAW file in Canon's File Utility.
