Problem with flash!!

I just recieved a eos digital rebel for my birthday/christmas. Wonderfull gift but i dont know much abt it yet. I have a problem with the flash. For some reason it will not stay in the folded down position. Could i had changed a setting or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In short...read the manual. I dont mean to come off as rude or blunt (ok..maybe blunt) but you will be much better off if you take a little while thumbing through that book in the box.

Take your camera, play with the bottons while you read...you'll learn a lot.

To answer your question though, it is because your in the automatic modes, i'm guessing that big green box. Again, read the manual...so you can shoot IN manual.

In some basic modes, when you half press the shutter the flash pops up. However if you push it down it should stay down until you push the half button again. If it won't stay down at all, as you've described above, it's faulty and needs to be replaced.

Thats what i was afraid of.
I was wishing i had pushed a wrong button.
