Nice capture as for the expression.
The face is way hot. Makes her features look flat.
Looks like hard light, ie Flash with no diffusion.

Is there any PS work I can do to bring down the "heat"? It was really hectic at the graduation due to the amount of people and size of the facility. The biggest facility was still too small. I just used the on camera flash and that was the only shot I had. I really like her little pose so if I can correct it, I would like to :)

Maybe someone else is better than I am but I tried several tricks and wasnt able to make a proof quality image.
Best I think you can do with PS is curves adjustment.
You will lose some of the highlights at darker points on the photo and the backgound will darken at which point you start losing the hat.
If everything was bright it would be much easier but that hot spot on her cheek is kicking my butt anyhow.
