Hi all.

The bird forum has the mandatory "first duck shot" and seems like the astronomy forum equivalent is the "first moon shot"......:).

Here's my first attempt. 450D and 100-400mm (three weeks old).

f/9, iso 400, 1/200.

What do you all think ??

Cheers, Matt.

Matt i think you did a great job and if this is your first attempt then i'd say your a very quick learner  !! This is almost the exact same as my moon i took at 99% full . I used my scope and you caught the same visual look as how it looks in my scope . I know alot like to pull out colors but me i prefer original as to exactly how a scope would project it . I can tone it down some with a moon filter when viewing but the only way to tone it down with the camera is lowering the ISO and shooting at a faster shutter speed but like i said i prefer the brighter image . WTG !

Very sharp. The craters near the top look great. I'd go with about half the exposure time, but this is a good shot.

Thanks Celestron. There's truckloads of very helpful threads and advice on POTN.

Thanks for your words and advice too Bernoulli.

Matt.
