Bryce Mills, Phili Robertson and Mercedes, their beautiful baby daughter, were taken before their time, on the 7th of January 05. This is the memorial erected by friends to serve as a reminder to motorists. Those willing to take risks, willing to take the lives of an innocent family, with a future as bright as the stars above.
You will be sorely missed......

Love Mark

sorry, I know it's a bit of a downer subject, but feel free to comment if you wish. I liked the photo a lot, and wanted to share it.

30sec at about 2.8 from memory. ISO1600 I can't quite remember, it was about 4 am.

I definitely like it, and the lights in the background help to drive home the point, I think. It is a terrible shame, though. :(

I see these roadside memorials all the time. They can be a pretty sad reminder about road safety. I've been collecting pictures of them for a new section I'm putting together for my website. By the way, you have a PM.

As a member of a fire and rescue unit I see much too much of peoples' negligence. These memorials mean a lot to those who have lost friends and loved ones, but I understand some states here in the U.S. are considering banning them, claiming they are a hazzard in themselves. Most of them here are made of wood, as opposed to highway signs which are made of METAL and are much larger. As far as I know I have never responded to an accident caused by one of these memorials.

New Zealands road death toll is one of the worst in the world. Most people in New Zealand believe that this is caused by poor road conditions, unrealistic speed limits and pure negligence. Holiday time sees thousands of NZer's on the roads driving to vacation spots, traffic is bad, and people speed without regard for their own and others safety.
Bryces accident was caused by an oncoming car, overtaking a B-Train truck and trailer unit, crossing the centre line. Forcing Bryce to take evasive action, unfortunately this particular corner is off-camber and Bryce lost control. Upon correction he slid into the oncoming truck. The road was wet, and the police investigation found no fault with either the truck driver or Bryce. Both were travelling under the speed limit of 100kmph. The other driver never come forward.

it gave me shivers, i like the composition. but maybe a better light source, and a lower shutter to try and distinguish the cars a bit. so you can see the cars body. might have more of an impact.

tragic story. sorry for your loss, it's a heart breaker when they die for no reason.

it sucks when someone dies because of someone elses stupidity.Esp. a young couple with a child! Drivers need to wake up and realize they arent alone on the road! Time and a gain i see these jerks in their cars weaving and speeding all over, i had a guy pass me yesterday before i even got out of the Acceleration lane while getting on the highway! And he started off behind me! Im sure some of the other new englanders will attest to the fact that there are more crazy drivers than ever on our roads!
Its a sad, sad shame!

Thanks for sharing, if it stops one person from speeding it helps.

Sorry to hear about that Mark. And sorry I missed this thread 7 months back.

I lost my best mate many years back, after he was returning from a holiday with family. Their whole family was wiped out in a split second. :(

Does anyone know what happened to cause the crash?
