A few questions for you guys

1) What are the general specs on your computer (ram/processor)
2) Is is sufficient for running and editing the files you have with ease?
3) When you batch edit in lightroom does it take forever for you to edit your files or batch resize?

I have a very old computer and it's time to upgrade. It takes absolutely forever to edit anything. I have a 5 year old computer that has 512mb and a pentium 4 lol.

My question is

4) Is a dual core sufficient, or is quad core necessary? (granted it has 4 gigs of ram minimum).

I suppose this question will be based on what your answers were for your own computer and how sufficient it is.

Thanks so much! I basically just want to edit anything in lightroom and PS without much wait at all. Often loading and processing just take forever.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 overclocked to 4Ghz, 4GB of pc2-8500 ram

Most definitely
3) When you batch edit in lightroom does it take forever for you to edit your files or batch resize?
Depends on what you mean by forever. To batch like 200 pics it probably takes me like 5 minutes tops I would immagine.

4) Is a dual core sufficient, or is quad core necessary? (granted it has 4 gigs of ram minimum).
All depends on if the programs can take advantage of the extra cores. A quad is good for multitasking but it'll cost ya more. if you can afford it i'd go for it.

I have a 700 dollar limit and can only buy a computer from a vendor. Is this pretty good?

Quad core and 6 gigs.

I am just unsure about gateway. I have never used them before, in the past it has just been HP

Could have gone with 32 GB RAM, but that just seemed like overkill.

If you liked HP, you'll love Gateway...I have 4 Gateway desktops and 2 notebooks on my network....no complaints at all...

how have you set the RAM modules up? What size are they, and how many? And what board?
