I cover an Ironman Karting Series for a local motorclub. Here's a few pictures from the last race of the season.

#1 It had been snowing the night before - this guy decided to see just how good a snow plough a kart would make

#2 The wet track gave some spray, which always adds to the photographs.

#3 Clear visors are always a bonus!

#4 Intense sun at times made exposure tricky, and it difficult for the karters to see where they were going.

Hope you enjoy the photographs. As usual, any comments or feedback is most welcome.

Cheers,

Simon.

Brilliant stuff, this...

#1 is just so over the top and unexpected. Was he in the process of going off or did he really do this on purpose? Either way, helluva catch by you.

2 and 3 are quite good but 4 looks a tad over exposed on the helmet. A little processing could balance that out better.

Excellent shots Simon, its not often you see karting and snow together, lol. Looks like you had some tricky lighting conditions there. You doing the Xmas stages at Croft?

Glad you like them!

#1 was an accident. The driver got the kart very sideways in the first part of the chicane and just when it looked like he was going to pull off an amazing powerslide, the kart gripped and he speared off into the snow .

#4 does have some almost specular highlights on the helmet. Not much to be done about those unfortunately, given that the helmet is wet and a little reflective anyway. I knew I would be blowing some highlights to keep the rest of the image properly exposed.

Cheers,

Simon.

Gave me and the marshalls a right laugh as well . Poor guy got his leg well and truly pulled in the bar afterwards as well!

Cheers,

Simon.

Was that at Langbaugh?

Looks like fun. We once went there for an evening session only to find the track frozen over. One guinea pig went out, spun several time and we all decided to go to the pub instead :)

Hi Peter!

Yep it was at Langbaugh. Slicks on a cold wet track made for quite a bit of entertainment
