I want to get a fitted case for the Rebel XT but does anyone carry it yet?

wonton,

Canon won't offer cases specifically for this camera.
my best guess is that a case that works on the 20D or 300D (DRebel) should fit nicely.
Still, as there won't be any offered for these models specifically either, you'll have to venture out to a good photo shop.

Some things to consider when buying a bag...
- Which lenses do you plan to get?
- What will be your 'walkaround' lens?
- Do you want to have a small bag just fitting the camera and one lens, or do you want to put something else inside (more lenses/flash/charger/...)

Selecting your lenses is a lot more important than selecting a camera bag, as it has so much more impact on your photographic success.

My experience is that you need to gain some experience yourself with the camera to find out what you like/dislike.
Many people buy more than one camera bag, because they find out that first one they bought is not optimal for various reasons.

Don't know if this helps you, but I bought the Tamrac Velocity 7 (one of the larger 'camera form' type of bags) specifically because it was large enough to put my 20D with Tamron 28-75/2.8 with the lens hood fitted inside. I tested a lot of bags before finding one that was big enough. It also fits my 18-55 kit lens 50/1.8, as well as another 'medium size' (e.g. M42 135/3.5) lens.
I haven't regretted buying it so far (ok, I got a 300/4.5 M42 lens yesterday and yet have to figure out how to take this with me  )

Morale of the story?
Get your lens(es) together and visit a good camera shop.

Best regards,
Andy

The Rebel XT is meant to be a little smaller than the old rebel, so it might rattle around a little in an older hard case.

You're wrong: http://www.canoncompanystore.com/epages/annex.storefront?ProductDetail=0212B001AA

It is out of stock from the Canon store. Try this for accessories for the XT:
