Took this on the night of 12/09/08. i didnt take any picture during the full moon period. it wasnt as clear out here for me. shot this picture with an older canon 100-300mm zoom lens. Cropped and resized with slight curve work. C and C welcome.

I know it's only small, but it looks like you got some pretty nice detail out of an older lens. Do you have a full size image we can see?

I can see the curve work. Makes those dark seas pop right out. Great shot.

I really love that shot. I am an absolute moon person and am always trying for good moon shots. I know now I need a much better lens :)

i shot this moon picture with the old canon 100-300mm using tripod @ 300mm. i didnt have a wireless/external trigger so i used the 10 sec timer.

^^ just play around with what you have. you dont necessary NEED a much better lens.

Ill post my best moon shot pic that Ive been able to get in a new thread. I can never seen to get any decent detail with mine. Ill show you the most recent ones and you can see what I normally get and maybe some one here can help me figure out what Im doing wrong

I know now I need a much better lens :)

It's the focal length requirements which tend to be necessary for great moon shots, to get you in close. I never bother shooting it at less than about 400mm...1200mm preferably!!

yea, 300mm barely cutting it on a cropped. that still only makes it 480mm. its still not enough for me. this photo actually has been cropped down to enlarge the size of the moon. i bet it'd be awesome to be in the 600mm range.

i didnt even know they made lenses with that kind of focal range! I mean maybe a telescope lol wow
