Here's a shot of our friend's youngest daughter taken by my wife. She's starting to get the hang of this photography thing. :)

Your wife did great...really like this one! I do think it could use just a tiny pit of PP on the eyes to really make them pop.

I tried to get the eyes to really pop but couldn't get them to look any better. Any suggestions on what I can do to improve the image? How can I get them to really pop?

I did a few quick adjustments on it, but you don't have "image editing ok" on. Would you mind if I posted the edited image? Anywho, just sharpened up the eyes a bit, dodged the highlights in the eyes a little & slightly brigthened the whites of the eyes.

Sure...i'd love to see what you did with the photo.

BTW...I turned "Image Editing OK" to on.

so adorable!
I love the bold red and its contrast with the green background, and that little yellow back there, and the beautiful eyes! personally, I think something in between the original and rmr21's edit would be nice, but that could be because of my very uncalibrated laptop monitor..

Hi rmr21! Thanks for the edit. However, I think the eyes may be a bit over done. Maybe something between what I had and what you did would be perfect. I really like how you lightened her face.

GOrgeous... I say just dodge the highlights in here eyes, and sharpen them up some and you'll be well on your way. :)

wow, these are the photos I am trying to learn to be able to take. What was your setup for this photo? Lens mainly?

Thanks!

Nothing really that special...my 40D with the 85 mm f/1.8 lens on it set to an aperature of f/2.8. My wife was shooting pics of flowers when she took this photo so the depth of field was pretty shallow. It was overcast so the light was nice and even for it being 2:00 in the afternoon.
