This is a family members pet! It's 6 month's old, this is it's first shed.

M, 1/125, iso 100, f/8, 430ex flash adjusted down manually till it looked about right.

Cool and gross simultaneously. Nice macro shot, the quarter is a nice touch for scale.

Thanks. We thought about using the real spider, but I was informed that the bite can make me very sick for about a week.

Thanks, From what I understand it takes several hours for the spider to do the shed and when I saw the spider it was still a whitish color, as its new skin/shell hadn't hardened yet.

The real one is now a little bit bigger.

Yes the shed splits down the seam(?) where the top meets the side and it slowly wiggles its way out. I'm not sure how big this one will get, but the term as big as a dinner plate was mentioned in reguards to the various spiders that she has. I believe they are a golioth or bird spider, red footed or red banded, and a third one named pinkie.

That's awesome shot. My red legged female tarantula shed recently but before I could take a picture of it my cat got a hold of the shed. maybe next time.

Nice pic! It looks like a Theraphosa blondi(Goliath Bird Eater). Watch out for the urticating hairs it has on its abdomen.

I'll take your word for it, all I know is that's a lot of spider and I won't be rubbing it's belly:D
