Not sure which one of these I like the best the tighter shot or the more wide angle.
Focal 90mm

The 60mm is better IMO, due to better framing. The road and the tree provide definition.

I think I favor that one also, for the reasons you stated and the fact the sky looks a lot better.

I think the road adds something needed.

The first one, more up and personal. Makes you feel that your actually there. The second is a little disappointing when you see the roadway. I perfer nature without the man made stuff in it.

Very good point. I think if it had been a gravel/dirt road it would have added more to the photo. The road does tend to frame it though.

I like how the tree frames the shot in the second one but for me the road makes my eyes follow it, taking my attention away from the tower on the hill.

It's Mini Me!! it's still growing. Having climbed up the face of it in my youth I can attest it was mountain enough then..  another one of those "not the brightest things I could have done"

Yep, I think the 60mm one is better, not because of the composition, but because the highlights in the first one are too blown out. The second is better exposed.

agree, the 90mm one just seems to trail into nothingness on the RHS where the tree gives it framing on the 60 mm. I think I'd crop the road off & leave the tree in

More like this?

Lonnie I agree with the first one being blown out I guess I metered a little to much into the clouds/sky on that one. I used the center AF point on the tower and I'm not sure which metering I had set. Usually it's 1) partial or 2) center weighted. course than again I'm always confused on that..

on second thoughts the road frames the bottom well !
