Welcome to POTN. :D
You're all set for shooting RAW already. The short explanation of how to do it is: Make sure your camera is in P/Av/Tv or M and then select the RAW image quality in the menu and off you go. Once you have finished shooting transfer your files from your memory card to a folder on your computer. The software that came with your camera includes a very capable RAW conversion program -Digital Photo Pro. Load your images into that and you're all set to process them to look how you want them to. Once you have given them a boost save/export them as TIFFs/jpegs and that's it!
Of course, there are longer explanations but I'm sure you'll pick it up as you experiment more. :D
