Just ordered:

50D/Grip/hood/UV filter/wired remote
24-105L and UV filter
100mm Macro/hood/UV filter

I'm planning on getting a motorbike - I've got enough camera gear for now...

Any cure for the fact that it costs more and more to please me these days?

This morning I bought myself a nice little xmas present. I ordered a studio type light setup from AlienBees: 3 B400 lights with a couple umbrellas and a shadowbox. Basically I got their DigiBee and Background packages, and added things like gels, etc.

So, tonight, my wife will find out what she got me for xmas.

Anyone have a couch I can sleep on?

My birthay is on Dec 24th too... so I'll combine bday + xmas and get:

XSi + 18-55mm + 6MDH + 70-200f/4L and if I can I'll also get grip + extra battery and Wigma!

Nothing terribly big yet, I bought a tripod yesterday for an internal company panoramic photography competition we are having and am fighting the urge of a UWA for my Mark3 (good thing I can't decide on one). There's a 300 2.8 and a 600 f4 in my sights but I must ignore that urge as well or the girlfriend will be giving me coal for christmas and a permanent bed on the couch.

Brilliant idea to put your palattes on a monitor in the portrait position.

Trust me, you'll love the 358!! I assume you're getting it with the PW module installed?

Got a fair amount of back pay on its way to me so Im reckoning on either buying Photoshop CS4 or buying a new lens.

My birthday is early January so i will prob wait til then.

Only thing is i cant decide whether to go for a wide angle zoom for landscapes (which is my main area) or a longer telephoto zoom for sport (motorsports is an interest of mine).

Sweet man! I have a 2001 Suzuki Bandit 600 and it's the most fun I would really ever need. I can go as fast as I want to and it's very cheap on the wallet compared to the RR's out now.

This is funny. I bought an XS and then the nifty fifty and 28-135 IS USM and then sold everything except the nifty fifty today. Got the 40D in the mail today and now I'm gonna have to sneak both cameras in the house and pack one of them up tomorrow so she doesn't notice that I nicer/heavier camera is in the house.

I bought a 50D for my wife and one for me plus a 100-400mm L each to go with them. I also got myself a 24-105mm L becuase my good lady stole mine 6 months ago and all atempts to remove it from her camera have failed miserably :-)

My wife and I bought our first DSLR for Christmas (I actually bought it a few days before Thanksgiving... so I could try it out). We got the XSi. I thought I spent a lot of money "for a camera", but I love the thing. I have since bought a 55-250, a couple of hoods, a couple of spare cards, a couple of batteries, a grip, a backpack, and a tripod... you know, for Christmas :D I think I have already doubled the price of the camera that I thought was expensive :D

weezerfan84
24th of December 2008 (Wed), 09:17
Yep, I owned the XS for about 2 weeks and then sold it and bought a 40D. If I would have had the XSi, I probably would have kept it a lot longer. It made more sense for me to jump from the XS to the 40D. Plus, the 40D feels a lot better in my hand then the XS did. I like the added weight, since I use some heavier lenses.

madramper
24th of December 2008 (Wed), 11:21
I just got the grip on it last night, so today was the first I got to use it. It did add to the bulk of the camera, but it does feel like it has better balance or something now. I'm sure I'll end up upgrading eventually too, but I have a lot to learn before that becomes an issue :D
