First try at shooting fire

Had a nice night with some friends around a fire pit last night so tried to get a few nice shots using the 50mm f1.8

The color one is much better. In B&W there is too much contrast. Reduce the contrast and you might make it work.

Thanks will keep that in mind and will try another edit once I have some time over the weekend.

Plus try adding something other than just the fire to help tell a bit of a story with it.
And if it's possible try to get all of the flame in the shot, by that I mean try not to cut off the tips of the fire! Oh, and welcome to POTN. :)

Hmm good to hang out with friends. The pics look very mysterious. Fire, reminds me of ancient Greek myth.
