I'm starting to explore various capture workflows for HD video at birds, and here's a couple of my first attempts using a production 5D2 - both using a manually focused 1600 mm (Sigmonster + 2x TC).

These are links to a 720p version (smaller size video is also selectable). :)

I really like the first vid, the second half of it. Love the depth of field and colours. :)

What was wrong with the ambient noise? Ever see Sunrise Earth?

Great stuff-- Thanks for sharing it. I too wouldn't mind hearing the ambient sounds of the habitats, but the music is pleasant. :)

Beautiful. I am for ambient noise too.

Thanks for the comments, guys. There were some vehicles operating within "earshot" of the mic when these footage were captured, so I have to exclude the ambient sound. :)

Awesome stuff, be sure to share your workflow Romy...

Now that you have all these beautiful lenses attached to the 5d2... are you enjoying video more than stills at the moment? it definantly adds to the work load but the results are amazing and i can see a clip of 50 of your best snippets over a few minutes being something of a visual delight...

Full HD sharing is available too (smugmug) - might be worth a beta test for it as you have some stunning video - 10x the quality footage of some of us backyard boys (me and my wobblecam :))

I see very cool stuff coming out here!

I'd like to see a couple of genres: birds in flight at close-up range, and some sports/action close-up videos -- things that we have the equipment for stills, and now for video.

So, I haven't been able to spring for the 5D2, and I'm hoping for some "knock your socks off" stuff!
