I'm never sure if I've done well when it comes to high key! What do you all think? This was done in camera, not during PP. Also, if you do like it do you prefer color or b&w? Thanks! :)

Although they look ok, i think they needed a bit of a boost. So i played around with them a bit (hope you dont mind)...and might i ask, what kind of pp you do on the eye's of your subjects? They dont exactly look oversharpened...but something. Anyway...here is my go at them. It looks as though on the bottom ones that you tried to brighten up the bg some and missed some of the spots closest to your daughter, because there is a bit of a dingy ring around her from the underlying bg.

Christy, I like everything you did, except the eyes in #2....just look a tiny bit overdone on those. Do you mind telling me what you did....I'm never good at getting the background white enough.

Oh, and since you asked about my PP on the eyes...all I did on these was a little sharpening & unsharp mask.

All i did on any of the colored ones was did a curves adjustment, i didnt pp the eyes any, they just look brighter from the curves im assuming. on the last colored one where the white was stilla bit dingy, i duplicated the layer and then boosted the contrast up to make the bg whiter. then i hid the layer and used the white paint brush to brush some of the new boosted contrasted layer back in to brighten it up. The curves adjustment i did brightened it up quite a bit too.

Thanks Christy....I'll have to try that myself & see if I can get it to look like you did. :)

Personally I think the modified files have blown out whites. Just looking in PS, I see RGB=255 for this one

While this has mostly 254

You can keep white without blowing it, try for something like 248-250.

High key doesn't mean blow out everything. Just my 2 cents.

All i did was barely make an s curve adjustment. If i had the original pictures it would be easier to edit on them. they were already blown out to begin with so makes it hard when your trying to adjust them. And no, high key doesnt necessarily mean to blow everything out, but sometimes blown out highlights look fine. and thats just my 2 cents ;)

stunning shots rmr21, your little one is like a little doll. I think maybe an edit somewhere between yours and christy's would be better, the curves may have boosted the eyes a little to much, IMHO.
