I was really jazzed about the release of the XT. It seemed to have everything I wanted and at 2/3 the cost of a 20D. I read all the comparison articles and was sold. I dialed into the Mother Ship (B&H), picked the silver XT, 420 Speedlite, EF 50mm f/1.8 II & some other stuff........Then I sat back. I was ready to hit the launch button when I had another long talk with the chancellor of the exchequer (wife). She convinced me that I should get what I really wanted so I changed the XT to the 20D and added a Tamron AF 28-300 mm f/3.5-6.3 XR Di LD and pulled the trigger.
It should be here by next Tuesday. Now I'm really jazzed.
Unnnh, I guess I'll have to change my signature now:lol:

I promise you man getting the 20D was a wise choice. Just the the navigation buttons themselves is worth the extra money. You wont believe how proffesional it is and easy to change all the features without pushing too many clumsy buttons. Dont get me wrong, The XT is awesome I would love one but the 20D still is the more capable camera. The only reason I see to get the xt over the 20 D is if you want a smaller camera, plastic body, or a vintage mode dial. If you look at the comparsions there are very many options on the 20D that are extemely useful that the XT doesnt have. I paid $1300 for mine at www.buydig.com (http://www.buydig.com/) The xt is going for around $1000. To me, save $300 and get the 20D it's a no brainer. Unless, of course you are inpatient and I know I am.... I know the XT will take pictures of equal quality to the 20D so if that is all you are basing your buying on then get the XT .. But, the thing I love the most about the 20D is it's navigation capabilites as well as sturdiness.

Okay, this is 'The Wife' talking. Be mindfull, I was the one who told him to get the 20D over the XT. He made several long anxiety walks around the house before finally doing so!! Now I can shoot my 20D without the drooling wolf lurking over my shoulder...he'll have one of his own!!! Now if I can just find a way to keep him out of my lens case........

The navigation is one of the reasons I chose th 20D. Plus overall build quality, battery life, focus speed, and fucus quality. I figure I can always blow the extra money later on better lense. Price at B&H was $1,370 for the 20D and $900 for the XT.
Thanks for the comments & support.

Charge him for using your lenses, but give him a discount.

Do so at your own risk:razz: . I think she has forgotten that it was I who got her the 20D in the first place. She is the artistic one. I am the gearhead.

My wife is the artistic one in our family. I am somewhat of the gearhead. But she is not into photography, yet. My thinking (shhhh....please don't tell anyone else, let's keep this between you and me) is that once my wife starts using the 350D, she'll love it and slowly usurp that camera from me. That will allow to me to later purchase the next iteration of the 20D. So in about 18 months from now, I'll be sitting up at 1:38 AM on the night before receiving my camera talking about my future plans to ya. ;)

Yeah the joystick and the spin dial on the back of the 20D were a HUGE surprise to me after upgrading from my 300D. It really changed the speed and comfort at which I can do things. Manual mode in the 20D, I can switch aperture and Shutter speed simultaneously if I need to. Its really great. It takes a while to get used to it, but im sure you had practice on your wife's 20D, hehe.

Hope he is not mad at me now. I suggested to give him a discount, no.

I just got off the phone with B&H. It seems that becaues I have an unlisted phone number (retired cop, not in Google either) they needed confirmation of my phone number & address. I suggested that they confirm the address with the credit card company and pointed that this has never happened before even though my wife & I have made several purchases over the last few weeks. In the end he confirmed my address with the credit card co and didn't even try to sell me more accessories. 2K$ is plenty. Is should be beigh shipped as I write this. Can't wait, tee, hee, tee, hee

He's got my Pro1 and PowerShot to play with....not lettin' have my camera on my days off from work!!! He was allowed to play with it when I worked this week:) But I like your train of thought about charging him for my lens use...gonna get a couple of 'L's by the end of the year, I thinks!!!

He is hooked now, so these non- dslr's don't mean anything to him at the moment (just finished a "negotiation skills course" :D ). He is at your mercy girl, go get him.
