If I remember correctly I set the selector on P, then pressed the func/set button. This brings up a menu of sorts on the left hand side. If you scroll down using the down key under the func/set button then RAW appears at the bottom. Press set then as long as you keep off the Auto setting on the top of the camera you should shoot in RAW.
If you use Auto it seems to disable the RAW facility.
Anyone please correct this if I have missed anything out, as I am not on the computer I have loaded the instruction info onto.

Read pages 80 to 82 in your camera User Guide, it explains how. If you don't have a User Guide, then download one here (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=15669#DownloadDetailAct).
