Nice shots. #2 remindes me of a Zales commercial except you need a bigger rock on the finger ;)

Thanks guys, yeah the second one totally reminds me of a zales ad, but yeah, I nor my models are rich enough to have a "bigger rock" lol.

Joel, by flash, do you mean what kind of lighting am i using?

The first is my favorite. The somewhat harsh pose and lighting really work with his clothes and demeanor. Great photo.

I like these a lot, very differnt from anything we see here usually. :)

Sure, it's nothing too complicated at all. It's just a medium soft box from the top front (above the camera) pointing down at the subject, and a silver reflector below the frame putting more light on his dark shirt, and opening up some of the shadows under his chin. Then I've got a large grid spot hitting the black BG. That's all.
