Need some advice on buying my 16 year old niece a P&S camera for her Christmas. I don't follow the P&S and have been seeing the Avril Lavigne commercials with the pink ELPH and was wondering if that a good start for her, I think 16 yr old girls would like a camera, not sure. Have about $200 CDN to spend on one.

The Canon Powershot SD790 IS (IXUS 90) comes in at just under $200 and just got highly recommended at DPReview in their ultra slim camera reviews:

I think it's nicely styled (important when you're appealing to a younger member of the family), easy to use, nice and slim and has excellent image quality. I think it makes a good present as it's something that you wouldn't mind carrying around with you.

SD1100is comes in colors great IQ and always in my wife's purse, difficult to take a bad image

Yeah I picked up the pink ELPH (Canon SD100 IS), along with its little leather case, a 2GB SD card plus got her an extra 2 year replacement warranty, shes a teen so just in case.

I hope she likes it.
