I just bought the camera, and i'm a little new to the whole scene.
I bought it because having used a few d-Slr's here and there i can say i've enjoyed the experience. I was wondering however if it is possible to shoot with the drebel ala regular snap and go camera?
What would i have to do to enable this?
*edit* if this isn't the appropriate forum, could somoone post a link to where it would be?*

Use the green box or P then everything (except clicking on the shutterbutton) is done automatically for You.

Even better, use the scene modes, they'll do a better job. The trick is to remember what each of those tiny symbols means, they can be quite cryptic.

lol thanks.
What i actually meant was, if its possible to shoot using the LCD as a viewfinder

Not with the 300D or any Canon camera(SLR). Almost all DSLR's cannot do this, but I think there are new one's out that can... just can't recall the name(s).

No its not. The mirror is in the way of the sensor until you take the shot.
IMHO once you get used to using the view finder you'll never want to go back to framing / focusing a shot on the LCD again!

I actually prefer to use the viewfinder.
I think the only reason anyone would really want to make use of the LCD for shooting would be with crazy/odd angles or places where headroom isn't really possible.

One advantage of an SLR is speed - when you push the button, the picture's taken almost immediately - the delay's in the order of 50ms. If you want to use the LCD you've got an extra delay because they have some latency.
