.. Very well done, good composition, the colors and lighting are perfect (IMO). I too love those sunset shots. Keep shooting! :-)

Nice sunset shot. The silhouette adds interest to the composition.

I like the shot. I wouldn't mind seeing it with the person cropped out. I love the one sun beam reflecting in the lake.

Nice! I'm looking for the same effect in a wedding photo, how did you do it if you don't mind me asking. I'm hoping to have a stained window at the church colorized and having the couple as a silhouette. Any thoughts?

i shot in raw. changed the saturation. that's the pacific ocean by the way.
TSEE, all i did was metered on the horizon and then adjusted the brightness levels in photoshop (when opening the RAW file)
I know it's funny the guys pants are huge. he's actually a younger kid wearing baggy pants. :)
all you need to do is play around with the settings when you are "developing" your RAW file.
here's "as shot"

Here's an example of what you can do.

obviously that looks horrible, but look at what it extracted from the black.
What I want to learn how to do now is make one bright image, and one dark image then merge them, to get the dynamic range...... :-) now THAT is fun!

Unfortunantly I don't have PS, but golly that's some neat effects. I must say I prefer the black silhouette tho. Hmm I guess a little tweaking with my photo program and I can hope I get something close to that!
Thanks for explaining!
