I have a photography assignment on appropriation but I dont understand the explanations given on google. Can you guys help

Appropriation = taking possession. In visual arts it generally refers to using borrowed elements, like a collage. Could you share more details of your assignment? "photography assignment on appropriation" doesn't really mean anything in particular to me... We're more or less always appropriating bits of the world, it's not like painting where it comes from the mind. It has to exist in the world in order for the camera to capture it.

Go the the local courthouse and take a picture of all the foreclosure notices tacked on the wall.
They are being appropriated for nonpayment.

That's a great assignment idea, and a sad fact at the same time.
