Hello all,
This is my first attempt at shooting a 6 month old. I had very limited room and had to put the child on the dining table which made it even more challenging.

What would you improve on the shot? Any recommendations?

I have attached the lighting setup to help people see how I produced the result. I hope it helps. I have also added the settings, and some notes.
Cj.

from the diagram, it looks like the backlight is above the background?
how did you get it to fully light the background from there

Excellent picture. I know relatively nothing about lighting, know that I need to start learning, and its posts like yours here that I love to read and learn from....thank you.

Cute baby. I wish her/his left arm wasn't cut off and cloting was white or lighter color.

hi

did you put the light behind the backdrop???

jjmucker,
The Softbox was behind the backdrop, so it lit the backdrop up and made it bright white.

whiteoak,
Thank you for your kind comments. Learning is the fun part, if it helps you great stuff.

bobbyz,
I see your point about the arm. I suppose this is where people like different things depending on your own tastes.

TamEric,
The light was directly behind the backdrop. Set to F11.0.

Beautiful shot, I actually like the composition just as it is.

Thanks Cj for taking the time to include your lighting setup with details, great for us guys who are not totally up to speed on this subject.

It's a little overexposed to my eye.... but I think that's the look you were going for.

Cute little one.. do you have a color version as well?

sunnygirl,
Glad you like the composition. No problem with the Lighting setup.
It was just my way of explaining how I created the image, and to see if I could produce images of quality with small amounts of space, and limited equipment, better then companies over here in the UK, like Venture.

Kristy,
Yeah, I agree the exposures are slightly over. I think that is caused mainly by the light behind blowing the white out, and it also blows whatever is in front out from behind.

Lunajen,
Thank you for your kind words.

michillebaker,
I am flattered. Thank you very much.

Alorien,
Thank you, I see your point about over exposure. Definitely think the light behind caused it.

cdmonkey,
Thank you. No problem about the setup.
