View Full Version : Will this fit in a Crumpler 5MDH?

I looked through several of the bag stickies and threads, but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted.

I was wondering if my XTi with Quantaray 70-300mm attatched would fit into a 5MDH? Also, would my EF-S 18-55mm (kit) fit unattached as well?

If not, would they fit into a Crumpler 6MDH?

I'm basically looking for the smallest bag that will fit my XTi + 70-300 and have room for my 18-55. I like the look of a rectangular bag over the taller, vertical-rectangles. Ha, I'm picky.

Thanks in advance.

I guess no one knows. Ha.
- I hope bumping after a day is allowed.

Accommodates: Film or digital SLR camera, with standard lens attached, additional lens up to 8.0", flash and accessories.

Thanks. I guess if worse comes to worse, I could always just have the 18-55mm attached and store the 70-300mm beside it. I was just curious if it would fit with the 70-300mm attatched.

I just purchased a Kata 3N1-20. Fits all my gear listed on my sig. There's a 3N1-10 that may suit your needs. It's smaller, rectangle, and very roomy!

It should fit. THe I forget how small the 70-300 is although Quantaray's is pretty thick. Never the less it should fit attached with room for the 18-55. The camera may have to lay down though.

It can hold up to...7"-8" by it self so if the 70-300 and camera is that or less then yes. But there'd still be a lot of room. Check my review to see how bigger lenses will fit and a flash. You should be fine.

A 5mdh will fit that np. I think crumplers site does a good job at showing the size of the bag, it looks fairly obvious it will fit.

I was looking to see if my gripped 5D and a 430 will fit in the 5MDH...I can't find anything like that without reading through 20+ pages on the crumper bag thread...I should PM Aravena...

Not only that, I wonder why Crumpler uses such an ugly mofo to model their bags...

S-man, a 5mdh probably wont fit a gripped 5d. but it should fit one without the grip. the 6mdh fits my 30d gripped with 17-40 attached with lens facing down, along with my 580 and a rocket blower and few extra goodies very well.

Go to my reviews, I have each bag's area linked. Just a 5D and 430? Gripped 20D was large but it would hole that, 18-50, and my 430 is I wanted. This is why I stopped using grips.

Yeah, the 5D gripped will not fit. Holds my 5D with 24-70 attached fine though.

To the OP, it should fit. The Canon 24-70 is pretty long and there is still space for another lens. Since the 18-55 lens is small, the 5MDH should work fine.

Well I ordered a brown 5MDH from Amazon last night. I hope it fits what I want.
I wanted something small-ish for light packing. I don't want to lug around my Flipside 400 everywhere.

There's a 6mdh? I can't find it in the official website.

EDIT: Nevermind. Google search does wonders.

Yeah, but it's like, twice as big as the 5MDH, which is ridiculous, because they go up in size incrementally until then, and it's like, you either have a 1 bedroom apartment, or an 8 bedroom 6 bath mansion. Its all marketing schemes I say.

Really? Though it doesn't seem that large in this >>>picture.<<< (http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/image/78912902)

Well, perhaps I was exaggerating a little, but I was looking for something small, and the 5MDH was just right, but doesn't want to fit my gripped 5D, so the 6MDH would be the next option, but it seems so much bigger than the 5.

Wow, thanks for all of the replies, everyone (and I'm glad other questions were able to get answered)!

Alright, so I'm guessing that my XTi should fit with the 70-300mm but I was thinking that even if it doesn't, I wouldn't mind having the 18-55mm attached with the Quantaray next to it.

I ended up ordering a brown one two nights ago (when I posted this thread). I can't wait until it gets here! :]

Do you think a 5MDH will fit a 70-200 f4 IS, a 17-55 f2.8, an XSi, and a 50/1.8?

LightRules' pic here (http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/image/78912917) seems to indicate that my kit would fit just fine... but I honestly don't need the room for a 100-400 when my kit is a 50/1.8! (I'm assuming the width of the 17-55 to be similar to that of his 7-2f2.8.)

That's a 6MDH and not a 5MDH. Probably. That's very similar to my set up only I had a flash too and a bigger camera and a 70-200 F2.8.

Right -- but it's the ability to tote around 3 large Ls that made me try to fit my kit into a 5MDH. Will check out that thread -- thanks! (noob moment for not checking out the ultimate bag review thread... oops.)

Update: I just got a 5MDH, and it is able to fit the XSi with 17-55 attached and 70-200 unmounted. It's a pretty cozy fit but just the ticket for times when that's all I'd bring with me. Hoods both attached but reversed.

The incredible thing is that the 70-200 can fit attached to the body if I lay it along the bottom of the bag. As far as I know, this seems to be my perfect small bag. Waiting for the Tenba small messenger to see how it does in larger situations.

Do you have any pictures?

I am thinking of the 5MDH to hold my 5D2 with 24-105L lens and a 580exII flash.

I do, yeah -- let me get them up. I'll also do a review sometime, too.
