So how much beating can the 10D stand up against? That's something I've started wondering about myself. Have been on a military Nato exercise in Norway for the last weeks, and when taking the plane back to base, I had my H&C G3 machine-gun, my laptop, and my 10D with the 17-40L attached, with some clothes, just tossed around in my backpack, which was checked in at the Airport. When arriving at base, the screen of my laptop have been broken, my all steel machine-gun have actually been bent beyond recovery (good luck in your next life as nails), and my 10D and lens... Not a scratch. Unbelievable :D Was training with the 25th Marine regiment of usmc, and the exercise was a blast, and got some good pictures to :) Pitty about the laptop though :( Hope the airline will cover the replacement of the screen.

Vvizard,
first of all ... good to hear from you again
Second ... what airline allows you to take a machine-gun with you
Best regards,
Andy

Hehe, military chartered airplane. All the bags with guns where checked in, while all the soldiers had to keep the bolt for their gun on their body during flight. The irony in all this though, was that when the airline couldn't fit all the bags in the cargo-bay, they loaded the last 15 they couldn't fit in the plane itself, along with 300+ soldiers carrying the bolts for them :P
EDIT: Nobody died during the flight ;)

Thank goodness!
You can easily stab somebody to death with a gun bolt

The gun bolt of a G3 should look like this:

Yes, do tell - If they'll let y'all carry machine guns, I would hope that they'd not hassle me about a Glock Model 30. :)
J/K, of course. Good to hear that you're doing well. And good to hear that the magnesium alloy body of the 10D is up to the task.

Glad to hear your 10D survived. Here is a word of advice to all who check bags in for a flight or ship packages on aircraft, pack your items carefully. I work for an airline and I've seen how all airline bagage handlers treat the items. It is not a pretty sight.
