Congrats onthe new 20D, I am waititng ont he arrival of my today . :D
Your pictures look slightly washed out, and the models facial expresses not expressive enough and somewhat lifeless.
Do you have a profiled monitor?
not a bad start, just need seme tweeking,

i see what you mean about being washed out, although i dont know how to correct it. heheh
i took over 100 photos of both girls and i am also learning on which ones make a good pic, i liked those 2 but im sure there are better ones in there somewhere.
thanks for the feedback!!

You are what? a newbie? that's a joke right?
Trying to find the closest bridge to jump from (spent a lot of effort and $$ but can't come close to this quality)

how can i rid the showdows on the second pic? i was using a small box light with the cover on it and another larger light that lit up the entire room. No flash on either... I think shadows are a bad thing, are they? or is it ok to have these shadows?

Use a fill light to shine on wherever your shaddows may fall. Shaddows are not always a bad thing, though, especially if you're after a more dramatic look.

I'm not the right person to give you advice about shadows. But I'll tell you this...these photos are great. I think if you post the pics here (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=26) you might get a better feedback.

Nice photo's - except as noted color appears to be off.
I like the shooter am new to the digital world. To try it out I purchased a used 10d, mated to my 17-40 L, and my 80-200 2.8 L.
I'm extremely
disapointed to say the least in the quality that I've had printed. I have a canon S330 elph 2 mega pixel that 100% of the time I've get better quality prints!
In my non digital shooting I have no question in what my results are going to be. Throw in a roll of Fuji and away I go.
So far with the digital 10d I can only hope it's "user error", or need to use photo shop better, or a bad 10d.

Hi Tmizzle
I like the last photo a lot, it has a nice mood to it.
I played in ps to increase colour, blur background and sharpen. Although there are a couple of hotspots on her face, I do love the natural glow of her skin..I've probably over-sharpened a tad but wanted to show you what is hopefully an improvement in color. Please just say the word if you'd like me to remove the repost.
Kind regards
Sheye

it's funny how we all critique photos like we know something isnt it? how many pictures do you see in vogue where the subject is overexposed on one side of the face? Shadows and highlights are a part of the art of picture taking. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. I have seen shots in vogue that arent as good as the ones you submitted. So, with that being said, keep up the good work!

Willrz - the 10D (especially coupled with those lenses) should produce some excellent quality shots! Whats the nature of your quality problems - focus, exposure, etc,?

Nice work. I like number 1 but it could use some USM to add some perceived sharpness. Good show. How about some more?

My sincere apologies, I didn't mean to offend or upset anyone. I'm a fan of your work Laurenn so appreciate your comments.
I've only played with this image as I think it's excellent and wondered what a little post processing would do. I never think my edits look better than an original, just different and I personally love it when others edit my own work to show different possibilities. I'm also wanting to learn photoshop as much as I can so it's also for my own benefit.
Once again, I do apologise to Tmizzle if I've done the wrong thing...for future I will not repost without permission.
Regards
Sheye
