I'm just starting out on legitimate portrait work. Just wondering how I'm doing.

White balance in this looks like it's off a bit. A little too yellow maybe. It would be nice to have some catchlights in her eyes too. And there's a strange red cast in the lower left.
Lovely lady though.

In addition to the above critique there is no detail in her blouse/sweater. Black clothing is usually a problem in digital imaging so avoid it if possible.

The main light was also too high.

maybe bounce a little light onto the left side of her face.

I'd try to show off both eyes as well
