Gobo Material

I'm looking for a material that's easy to cut to specific shape(s) and is readily available in the UK to make Gobos. The material must be able to stand the heat coming from Elinchrom BX 400 for about a hour of pretty much continuous shooting. If no material exists then I'll work around cooling periods.

Any ideas other than black metal?

In theatre, I've been known to use alfoil folded over several times. Really cheap, easy to make any shape or pattern you like, can make it to fit any size light, stands up pretty well to the heat and is quite disposable.

I couldn't see it not working out at least as well for photo studio lamps.

Faolan, that is exactly what I mean when I am doing pro shows. But when lighting shows with a much smaller budget (say, local community theatre with a $400 budget for the whole show) I might use something like this:

I've also been known to use flattened tins quite successfully. Gotta be careful to make sure they're very clean before they get close to the heat source though.
