Birch Catkin Bug

I believe this is a Birch Catkin Bug (Kleidocerys resedae) , a member of the seed bugs. It was found on the lid of my garbage pail. I don't think it was too happy about the flash in its face though. Just happy to find something to shoot this time of the year.

you definitely nailed the focus, we get a similar looking bug that hangs around in the winter.
