error code

I got my new digital rebel this past fall and I love it. The only problem I have incountered is an error code 99 when I try to use my sigma lens. It is a sigma 28-200mm aspherical if. I have tried cleaning the contacts but still no luck. It will take three maybe four pics and then it quits and the camera gives me the code. would anyone know what might be my problem?

How old is te lens?

Many older Sigma lenses are not compatible with Canon's newer Digital and film bodies (seems to have started with the Elan7 and 10D)

I'm not sure probably around three years old. It is an auto focus lens and it works fine on my elan.

I had a similar problem with mine. The Appature was sticking. I would turn it off then on and it would take a few shoth then get the error.
The way I could see what was up was to press and release the D.O.F. preview several times and see if it sticks closed down.
I sent it back to Sigma and it was fixed pretty quickly.
