I wasn't sure where to post these. They are "people"

These were taken at 2 local cemeteries out in the middle of the woods

This first one I really liked the way the stones were placed like this. I just wish I would have taken another shot. I didn't even look at it until I got home to see the way the white was blown out.

This one was in the very back corner, ready to fall over. It's ashame how no one visits these people anymore. I can imagine in the summer you probably dont even see this one.

This last one I really liked it was nice to see that a flag was still placed on the grave of a soldier who died in 1863

The top of the stone reads "Died in Armory Square Hospital Washington (DC I think)
John B Patterson of Co. F 123 Regt. Pa. Vol
A solider in defence of liberty and the union.
Age 21 yrs 7 mos 3 days.

Very interesting. When i was out in California at a town called Laporte(sp) in the mountains I remember seeing several small cemetaries from the Gold Rush days in the 1800's. To bad i didn't have a digital camera back then.

I think old cemetaries are very interesting. Very interesting. I've tried hard to capture some of them as I see them in my mind's eye and never quite gotten what I felt when visiting there. Thank you so much for sharing these.

Here is probably my favorite shot of a cemetary, taken thru a window of the church which is on the grounds. The church is over 200 years old but the current building is more like 150. You cna see the ripple in some of the window panes (some have been replaced with more modern glass). My father is buried in this cemetary though his stone (1973) is very contemporary compared to the oldest ones there.

Thanks, glad you like them. I like going to old cemeteries and checking them out. Some of the stones are just amazing. I also like the way they told the age in yrs, mos & days. I came across some other interesting ones if anyone is interested in seeing them.

I know what you mean, None of mine really caught what I was feeling & looking at. I guess you just have to be there and take in the whole place.

Thats a nice shot you posted as well

Very interesting. I take pictures old cemetaries as well. Bonaventure cemetary in Savannah, GA is especially nice for this type of photography.
