Sorry I had to vent... I spent so much $$$$ this holiday season :(

I bought myself a 5D2 for myself, which I got the day before Thanksgiving. Then a few days ago my 2yr old daughter broke my DVD player, which I didnt care since DVD players are like $30 now. But I decided not to buy another one for whatever reasons.

Well yesterday, I decided to buy myself and wifey a new Samsung Toc 46" Series 7 1080i/p TV, but then I was like we need a DVD player, then I was like well I want Bluray since I got a new sweet TV, then I was like, well I dont want to spend $250 on a DECENT Bluray player, so I bought a PS3, 2 games and a 10.2G HDMI cable. I decided on the PS3 since it plays DVDs, Blurays and I can play games in my free time.

I got a killer deal locally on the TV from a friend hooking me up. Retail cost is $2299, Bestbuy and Circuit City have the TV for $1999 on sale right now. Well a local store called RC Willey (http://www.rcwilley.com/GetProductDetail.jsp?id=1544179) is having a sale on the TV for $1599, my friend got my an extra $100 off and FREE Delivery. So I got the TV for $1499 plus 6.85% taxes, which is a KILLER DEAL. No where online can you find this TV this cheap brand new in box. The Series 6 version is $1640 on newegg.com (which is what I was going to buy)

So in the end...

Canon 5D Mark II - $2700
Samsung Series 7 46" HDTV - $1700
PlayStation 3 & Games - $562
Entertainment for years to come... PRICELESS

TOTAL = $5000 and we spent about $500 on family gifts and such which doesnt include our daughter. Someone want to give me some $ now that I am poor.

The wife and I are up to almost $2,000 just on ourselves this year lol. My camera and accessories (which is STILL adding up), her diamond earings and a new camcorder. Might have to sell some of my guitar stuff just to have some $ after X-mas.

do you have debt that follows that?
I think on ourselves we spent about 200 this year and about 800 on the kids, we have 5. We maybe only spent 200 on our families.

Lol, thankfully no debt that follows. We very fortunate we are able to pay cash but by no means are we rich.

My big, fat boss called our office manager from the cruise ship he was on and told her that none of the employees would be getting Christmas bonuses this year, despite record setting sales for the last 5 months. I guess the 10k he gave our local animal shelter just means that we are worth less than dogs. We don't even have a Christmas tree and have spent a grand total of $200 for five people.

Merry @#@$%^%% Christmas.

My student status ends in 6 months and if I don't find me a full time job, I'm toast with a spread of debt.

Buyer's remorse. A classic symptom of spending too much money. If you really want buyer's remorse, go buy a 1Ds MK III. :);)

Yeah, right.

In six months all that technology will be obsolete and you'll be doing it again.

The entertainment industry thrives on the PT Barnum principle.

Sell them the movie on VHS.
Sell it again on LaserDisc
And again on DVD
Oh yeah, and again on Blu-Ray

What a racket.

You should feel good Orlando. You've got some great new toys and you are doing your part to help the economy out of a recession. SPEND !

Cool! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Things are very tough here (DH is in the auto industry) but we will manage...we always do. We had years like yours...and years like Mtnphtgrphr, and many years in between.

This year, we are trying to focus on the reason for the season and turning our attention outward. Kinda feels good!!!

I'm happy for those with the capability of helping the economy. I sympathize with those who can't, being one of them...but this too, shall pass eh?

Merry Christmas everyone!

Well, I'm doing what I can to help boost the economy as well (but I'm not sure how much it's helping). We've got a baby on the way, so most of our money went to baby furniture, clothes, supplies, and cleaning up the babies room. My wife did however let me get the 5dmk2, so I got her a nice necklace with our babies birth stone (hopefully - she's due next month). That's all the help to the economy I can provide right now.

And I thought I spent too much on Christmas for all and kept it under $200. I still have to sell something to make the rent. We do what we have to, I suppose. Want to add a Bigma to your Christmas spending? :) Merry Christmas Everyone!

Good job, Justin. I'm almost in the same situation. We watch our 2.6 yr old granddaughter but I haven't ordered the 5D II yet, but soon.
