View Full Version : What's up (Rebel XT)

Our little po-dunk camera store has a RebelXT, Black Rebel, and a couple 20Ds on the shelf. Wha's up with that? I couldne't find a single Canon 20D body 2 weeks ago. I almost had the gall to have the sales clerk take out the RebelXT for a look-see, but figured I'd be just wasting her time since I'm still on cloud nine with the 20D.
On a side note, I did try out a few backpack bags. All they carry are the Tamrac's (Expedition 3 and 4). The 3 felt quite tight for the camera body and a few lenses, but the 4 seemed awfully large for an everywhere bag. Has anyone tried out a Tamrac bag and found it satisfying, or swapped it for a better back pack model (Lowe Pro, maybe)? I'm open to suggestions.

I understand that Canon ramped up production of the XT to double what they ever did with the Rebel...

I currently have the Expedition 4 which, at the time I bought it, I thought would be just big enough for my needs. Well, it's a year later and I'm thinking the Expedition 4 has gotten too small for my needs and I need a bigger backpack.
A week or two ago, I ordered the new Lowepro Mini Trekker AW but returned it immediately after I saw how it was put together. The top handle is very flimsy (no padding at all) and not as well put together as the LowePro Nature Trekker AW which I also have. I'm now looking to get the Expedition 5 which looks like it's better made than the Mini Trekker AW. Even the padding in the Expedition 4 is thicker than that of the Mini Trekker AW.
BTW, currently, in the main compartement of my Expedition 4 backpack, I can fit one DSLR body (either the 1DmkII or the 10D with the grip attached) with either the 70-200 f/2.8 L or the 100-400L mounted and hood attached backwards, the 550EX flash, the EF 28-135 IS and the Sigma 17-35 f/2.8 EX. Along with all these I'm hoping to either fit another body in the Expedition 5 or another lens and another flash.

Thanks for the heads up PacAce. The Trekker AW was the other one I was looking at, but only am able to see it online. Maybe I'll go back and give the Expedition 4 another look-see. I seem to be carrying around more an more lenses everyday, and hauling two bags is getting old. It's time somebody starts up a "click and design your custom bag" company. Any takers?
