Lately I've been battling an urge to put alot of saturation into my pictures, especially those with people in them.
At what point would you say alot of saturation is bad?
Here are 3 examples of shots I have taken over the past couple of months, with varying degrees of saturation.

Your question is so subjective based on personal tastes. In this series I like the second two but the first one is too saturated for my liking. Nice shots though.
What is the guy in the second pictures doing??

Actually, I like 1 & 3. 2 has too much color and too much red. Back off a couple clicks on color and that would probably make it better for my tastes.
I usually do not care for over-saturated color on people, except in photo 1, the sat'd color is perfect for her hair.
I usually ALWAYS over-saturate for nature shots. The duck, IMO is perfect.

Funny,.. I think #1 is too far,.. but otherwise I agree with the above sentiments exactly..
I have found that with Wildlife, landscapes etc.. one can push saturation much further.
This has been semi common practice for some time,. long before digital.
Nature shooters film of choice for the last decade was "Velvia" which greatly exagerates natural color,. .. makes it "pop"
..but velvia was not so much for portrait and studio work (there are exceptions of course) because the skin tones are not natural enough...

Thanks for the input guys.
I really like the velvia look, and I wanted to really give alot of colour to #1. But, when I viewed it again a week later, I thought maybe it was too saturated.
I'm getting re-acquainted with an old friend right now, Capture One Pro, after using Photoshop CS for my Raw files since I got the 20D. I think I am liking the colour reproduction better than on Photoshop CS, and I think that this may help the reddish glow the girl has in #1 on her skin.
Btw, the guy is doing some Irish Dancing. :)
