Smugmug vs Zenfolio vs Imageevent

Just out of curiosity, what are the advantages/disadvantages of each and why do you pick one over the other?

Never tried (or heard of) Imageevent.

I was very interested in Smugmug because I saw some very cool looking Smugmug sites- however, it was way too much work for me to customize, and paying someone $500-$1000 to do the job was out of the question (just my opinion, please don't bash me if you're a Smugmug die-hard). Also, in the end (again, just my opinion) while the sites were "customizable" they were still almost identical to one-another at their core. Banner, header, footer, etc. were all very similar. For the money, it just wasn't worth it to me.

Zenfolio was perfect for my needs. Minimal customization, (okay in my book) unlimited uploads, (I chose the middle membership plan) and a great layout (slideshows are great looking). It's definitely enough to blow my family and friends away, because they're all so used to the cookie-cutter kodakgalleries and shutterflies out there.

Zenfolio here as well. I thought the look was clean and simple which worked best for me. I didn't need the high level of customization in SmugMug and always found SmugMug to be a bit slow, just my experience.
