Photographic instrument? We will soon see.
It all started with a few unidentified original parts. "Heres a 130 year old radiator cap. Go find out what it was and build the original car around it! You can't go to a shop to buy parts, you will have to find raw materials, and build EVERYTHING from scratch"
That's what this was like.
Now, the last bits are done and installed. I just drove up to Sydney to return it to my good friend, Ron.
What a challenge and journey re-building this has been for almost two years! I have Ron to thank for entrusting me with this task. In the process of hands-on building this, I learned so much about how things used to be done over a century ago, all by hand.
FANTASTIC. Now I can sleep for a few nights before I get onto the next project.....

Ron has catalogued around 18 of these very old telscopes, beautiful sentinels of the past on his website www.antiquescopes.com (http://www.antiquescopes.com)
Full story of the rebuild there.
