Took the kids sledding

This could have gone into a few different areas, but I guess to me sledding is about kids and family more than anything else.

Great snow this week, and the kids had a blast on the hill.

What lens/settings were you using?

What lens/settings were you using?

I shot these with the 70-200/2.8 and a Canon 1.4X II extender.

The first shot was at 98mm and the second was at 280mm (using both ends of the zoom, fully)

The way I tend to shoot is by measuring incident light with a Sekonic L398 and then picking the settings I want to use off the analog dial. The lighting was almost consistent ranging from EV15 in direct sun to EV14 with some thin clouds running through.

I set up basically to shoot f/8 as the background did not need to be blurred out and stopping down gives a little more margin in focussing on such action

I picked 1/1250 to freeze motion.

I then used either ISO200 when the sun was out or ISO400 when it was screened by the thin clouds to complete the exposure.

Great shots. So many talented photographers here. I'm having fun surfing tonight. :) Certainly looks like a fun day in the snow. Wish it had been warmer here today to do that. Wind chills would not allow.
