AFAIK you need a card reader. They're cheap, go buy one. Once you have it, read this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=57217&page=1) for links to software you can use.

Hopefully someone can help you out, but if the images are important and you can't manage it, try that thread. Good luck! :)

sorry to hear your problem about image recovery.
unfortunately you must use a card reader as this is recognised as a drive by windows XP then you can use various photo rescue programs as mentioned above and the post which Tim has already told you about.
as mentioned a Hama card reader is so cheap and sometimes comes with rescue software.
I just bought a 1 gb Lexar professional card, it also comes an great image resue software.
if you can set asside the problem card until you get new software or find someone with card reader etc.
Do not overwrite that card until you recover your images,
Hope this helps.

You will need a reader to recover images as the card must appear as a drive.
If the owner of the PC will let you install one (let them keep it afterwards you can always borrow it again?) and then remove it again there is a cheap one from Hama about that includes some recovery software.
The only other option is to use a proffesional data recovery servic, there are plenty of ads in the photo press or the net. Maybe some of our US based members have a reccomendation? They will take your card and get back everything they can and then return it with the extra images on it or on a CD.

Gr, was able to get one after all. But it seems to not recognize canon brand cf cards at all..

If it's not recognizing Canon cards (any???), it sounds like there's something wrong with the card(s) or the reader's designed to work with a specific, non-standard card brand. A generic CF reader should be able to read any ATAPI CF memory device. IIRC, Delkin and Lexar, to name a couple, have "juiced-up" readers that work with specific features in their CF cards that aren't strictly ATAPI interface.

I know it doesnt help you now.........but.....in the future, some cards like the Sandisk Extreme come with recovery disks, and from what Im told work pretty well.

Check it with another brand card, it's more likely your CF card's stuffed.
