Ok so it's an OMNIMAX, but it's the same gear. I just picked up my new 10-22 today, and I just can't wait to use it. It took just over a year to figure out what types of photography I enjoy, and which lens should I add to my lineup. When I finally figured out that I really wanted an ultra-wide I wasn't so sure about spending the cash on an EF-S lens. I do plan on going full frame someday, and I know that this lens will not work with the full frame bodies. I'll either keep this as a backup when the day comes, or I'll sell the 40D with the 10-22 as a package. So with that in mind I'm pretty sure I made the best possible choice I could.
It's not art, but some may find it interesting none the less. Anyone else notice that the first image appears to taper to the left, and not form a perfect rectangle? Weird illusion.

One of the unit itself.

Hey Chris,
Can't stand to look at them any more. The platters, are they not supposed to be level? The machinery looks tilted.
Is it the optical illusion that you referred?

The tilt is because of the distortion at 10mm. I made a conscious effort to keep the camera level (in the first two shots) so my verticals would remain straight.
The optical illusion is the shape of the image itself. It doesn't look rectangular to me. It appears that the left vertical side is shorter than the right.
I'm just getting a feel for what this lens can do. What are the properties, and characteristics of it.

Ok, regardless of distortion, I've never been in a booth and it is fascinating

It's hard to avoid some form of image distortion at this focal length. Nice images though. :)

Now the trick is figuring out how to work with the distortion, not against it.

I personally like the distortion. It doesn't work on images like this where you're trying to show technical details, but on artistic landscape/building shots I think it adds to the effect.

Wow. I used to be a projectionist at a local theater a loooong time ago. Lots of fun building and tearing down the movies. I always figured they would of gone digital on iMax (or alike) film booths. But, I guess it hasn't gotten there yet.
Anyhow, back tot he pics. That's a very colorful room with a very interesting retro "star trekkie" feel to it. I found them to be cool pics.
Thanks for sharing.

Colours in the first two shots are quite garish, and not entirely accurate.
Another aspect I'm trying to get used to is the perspective of this lens. It certainly makes areas seem a helluva lot bigger than they actually are.
This booth is actually quite tiny, and these shots are a bit of a misrepresentation of size.
I'm not quite sure what I did different in the shot of the projector. It seems the most normal.
