laptop screen

Hi,

Have just purchased an external monitor for my laptop. Should my laptop screen be called the default screen as its currently called a plug and play monitor (which it certainly isn't)
How do I go about changing these settings to get it all sounding and reading correctly.

Try googling the make/model of your monitor. Chances are there is some kind of driver from the manufacturer that will correctly run the monitor.

Windows I presume, but what flavour?

If you have an external monitor connected to a laptop on boot, it'l usually defaults to that first. As far as I know, you don't have an option.
