Rolling Stone have posted their best live shots of 2008 here (http://www.rollingstone.com/photos/gallery/24758298/the_year_in_performances_2008s_b/).
There are some very good shots there but there are also quite a number of underwhelming photos featured - there are often much better photos posted in the Performing Arts section at POTN.

I hear ya Richard... Checked all 86 pics out, and they are just OK... a few of the jumpers are better than others... lots of cut of extremities, and the basic problems with lighting, lack of faces and timing...
We do fare fairly well here at POTN.

Kinda funny how many of the best shots were of no-name bands. Most of the shots were seem to have made it on the list because of the subject and not the content. For content, I'd put the top 86 PA shots from POTN up against these any day.
Just goes to show, its not what you know, but who.

:rolleyes:Funny how they used my photos of Bruce Springsteen in the RS print coverage of Harleyfest because they didn't like what their guy got then used one of his photos as a best photo of the year.

To be fair, the photo they used is a fine capture. I'm sure at least part of the reason that they used that photo is that they already had all the rights to it. To use one of mine would have meant another licensing agreement and another payment. No doubt RS has been hit with the advertising slowdown like everyone else. Also, knowing RS, everything was up-against-the-wall deadlined.
Some good shots in there, some not as good as I think they should be, but that's the editorial process...to date there is no A. M. Saddler magazine. LOL

Some nice images, some very nice, some quite poor.
Some of the bands I've seen better shot of here...

Hmmm, many of the photos will fit perfectly in the category "nothing special", if you ask me. I think I've seen 2-4 photos which are definitely great photos. Further a lot "I bet there have been taken a lot better photos at exactly the same gig" and a few "man, why is this in the collection anyways?" :P
